2. Information We Process and How It Is Used
A. Camera and Image Data
- Permission Requested:
android.permission.CAMERA - Purpose: The camera is used solely to capture real-time preview frames and photos of ingredient lists on packaged food and beverage products.
- Processing: Image processing and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) are performed locally on your device using Google Play Services ML Kit. Camera frames and captured label photographs are processed in volatile memory and are never transmitted to external servers, uploaded to cloud storage, or stored permanently without your explicit consent.
B. Household Profiles and Health Information
- Data Processed: Name or alias, age category (Infant, Toddler, Child, Adult, Senior), and selected dietary preferences or medical conditions (e.g., Diabetes, Hypertension, Celiac Disease, Lactose Intolerance, Allergies, Clean-Label preference).
- Storage: All profile information and health conditions are saved locally on your device's private sandboxed SQLite database. This data never leaves your device and is never shared with third parties or cloud servers.
C. Scan History
- Data Processed: Text transcripts of scanned ingredient lists, timestamps, and computed health scores.
- Storage: Scan history is stored locally in your device's private application storage. You can delete individual scans or clear all saved history at any time from the app's Settings screen.
3. Third-Party Services and Analytics
- Google Play Services ML Kit: Used for on-device machine learning text recognition. ML Kit operates locally under Google’s privacy terms.
- Zero Third-Party Advertising: CondiScan AI contains zero advertising networks, zero tracking cookies, and zero behavioral tracking SDKs.
- Optional Cloud Grounding: If an online AI query is explicitly enabled for rare chemical compounds, only the plain ingredient text is transmitted via secure HTTPS. No personal identifiers, profile names, or camera images are ever attached to these requests.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all personal and scan data is stored locally on your device:
- You have complete control over your data at all times.
- You can edit or delete household profiles via the Profiles tab.
- You can clear your entire scan history with one tap via the Settings / Preferences tab (“Clear Scan History”).
- Uninstalling the CondiScan AI application immediately and permanently deletes all locally stored profiles, preferences, and scan history.

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)
CondiScan AI does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. While parents or guardians may create a profile for an infant or child to monitor pediatric dietary restrictions (such as WHO sodium thresholds and added sugar restrictions), this data remains strictly stored on the parent or guardian’s private local device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

CondiScan AI provides educational and informational dietary analysis based on published nutritional guidance from authoritative bodies including the WHO, ICMR, EFSA, FDA, ADA, and AHA.
