How can I be certain HastVault doesn't upload my financial data?

HastVault does not declare the android.permission.INTERNET permission in its Android manifest. In Android's sandbox model, an application without this permission cannot open sockets, perform HTTP requests, or communicate over Wi-Fi or cellular networks. You can verify this yourself in your phone's App Info settings or inspect the open-source repository.

What happens if someone steals my phone?

Your data is safe. The HastVault database is encrypted at-rest using SQLCipher AES-256. The master encryption key is locked inside the hardware Android KeyStore (TEE) and is inaccessible without your biometric fingerprint/face or secure 4-digit PIN. Furthermore, FLAG_SECURE prevents screenshots from being captured.

How do I transfer my vault to a new Android phone?

You can export an encrypted .hastvault backup file via Settings > Backup & Restore. This file is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 using key derivation derived from your backup password. You can safely send this file to your new device via Bluetooth, USB, or Google Drive and restore it instantly.

Why does HastVault request the Microphone permission?

The microphone permission is solely used when you voluntarily tap the voice input button to dictate asset entries in Hindi or English. Speech recognition is handled on-device by Android SpeechRecognizer. Audio is never recorded to disk and never sent anywhere.

Is HastVault compliant with India's DPDP Act 2023?

Yes. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, personal data sovereignty and minimization are paramount. Because HastVault operates entirely on-device with zero remote storage or cloud tracking, it complies with the highest standards of data minimization and privacy by design.

How do I completely delete my data?

You retain 100% control. You can delete individual records at any time, or permanently wipe the entire encrypted database, cryptographic keys, and user settings in one tap by going to Settings > Delete All Data. Uninstalling the app also erases all local application data from your device.
